Officina del Vento is the project that three Italian Masters of Wine, Gabriele Gorelli, Andrea Lonardi, and Pietro Russo, have chosen to share in Sicily, in the Isole dello Stagnone Nature Reserve in Marsala. Bound by a deep friendship, the three often chose this area as a retreat for long study sessions, learning to love its sunsets—among the most spectacular in the Mediterranean—the constant wind, and the old Grillo vineyards. The Stagnone, which had always been the preferred terroir for the production of 'high-grade' bases for Marsala, was slowly being abandoned due to a lack of generational turnover and disinterested politics.

There was a high risk of seeing a treasure of the island's viticulture disappear. Therefore, when a small 40-year-old Grillo vineyard overlooking the sea was put up for sale in 2022, the three friends jumped at the chance to buy it.

Officina del Vento is not only an iconic wine, produced in only 4,176 bottles, but rather a project aimed at reevaluating a distinctive and characteristic territory which, thanks to its symbiotic coexistence with the Stagnone salt pans, gives the wines an unmistakable energy and flavor. The three wanted to share their vision with other players in the area, establishing the 'Salt West' association with the aim of promoting an extraordinarily evocative ecosystem capable of offering unique wines and experiences.
