The Allwinestories Awards, the new institution, presents the oenologist Katerina Karampatea.

Katerina Karampatea holds a degree in Chemistry from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a Diplôme National d'Oenologue from the French State, a Master's degree in Oenology from the University of Dijon, France and a PhD candidate from the Department of Wine, Vine & Beverage Sciences of the University of West Attica.

She has extensive experience in vinification of various types of wines, as during her time abroad she worked in renowned wineries such as the Michel Gros winery in Vosne Romanée, Burgundy, France, the Domaine des Muses winery in Sierre, Switzerland and the Burgundia Oenologie wine laboratory in Beaune, Burgundy, France.

In Greece, she worked for 7 years at Hatzimichalis Estates S.A. as a production and quality manager, while since 2011 she has been a Scientific Associate at the Department of Agricultural Biotechnology & Oenology of the International University of Greece. In 2012 she founded the Oenopolis Oenological Laboratory in Drama (winery consulting, analysis, scientific research, trade of wine products www.oenopolis.gr).

Domaine Erithrou Rodou is the small family winery that she created together with her husband - Triantafyllidis Giannis. A vision of years that was realized so that they can make wine from the grapes of their privately owned vineyard. They produce the award-winning Malagouzia, with new labels coming in 2022.

 


She is an international-level taster, participating as a judge in numerous international wine competitions held in cities around the world on an annual basis. (Mondial des Vins Blancs (Strasbourg France), Berliner Wine Trophy (Berlin, Germany), Femmes et Vins du Monde (Monaco))

She has numerous publications in scientific journals. She has organized & participated as a lecturer in numerous workshops and adult education seminars on Oenology, Oenotechnology, Promotion of Local Varieties, Tasting, Wine-Food Combinations, Quality Assurance of Wine & other Agricultural Products.

 


She has also distinguished herself by winning second place at the 2011 World Wine Women Awards in Paris, France, in 2011.
She is a member of the Association of Greek Chemists and the Association of French Oenologists.
