The month of March is traditionally the month of awakening and the beginning of workshops at the Château de la Confrérie Saint-Etienne. After a complicated period, the activities at the castle finally resume and we can finally share with you the complete and very attractive 2022 program.

As mentioned above, March announces the start of activities and this year is no exception with the introductory tasting workshops that began on March 2nd. An introduction to tasting 4 weekly sessions of 2 hours to learn how to taste Alsace wines, identify them and better know their characters (4 "crescendo" sessions: from Wednesday 2 March to Wednesday 23 March)... big success since the first workshop had no less than fifteen participants.

But before continuing the discovery of the program, let's meet the new duo (Grand Master and Major) who will accompany us throughout the year.

Last January, during the General Chapter, Serge Dubs and Fanny Paillocher became Grand Master and Major respectively, succeeding Pierre Ruhlmann and Alexandre Schoffit. A duo that has the heavy task of taking up and raising high the torch of the Confrérie Saint-Etienne after a very complicated period, marked by the seal of Covid... In view of the (busy) program, let us not doubt that this challenge has been taken seriously. Indeed very early Fanny and Serge, collaborated upstream to finalize a very complete program, betting from the beginning of a mandate without pandemic.

 

                                                  

The view of all the appointments that will mark the mandate of the new duo, there is no doubt that this 2022 vintage promises to be busy and very interesting. But let's not delay and move forward for the 2022 program:

Workshops "Discover the Alsace of old vintages": seminars from 8 pm to 10:30 pm at the rate of 45 € per session, on various themes chosen with wines from the prestigious wine cellar of the brotherhood, a true memory of the Alsatian vineyards:

  • Thursday, May 12, 8pm: "The 90s" the treasures of the wine library over a decade.
  • Thursday 9 June 8pm: "The Far North" another vision of the tasting of Alsace wines.
  • Thursday, September 8, 8pm: "Cap au Sud" after the North, head south to taste Alsace wines.
  • Thursday, October 13 at 8pm: "Rock'n Roll" tasting of amazing wines.
  • Thursday, December 8 8 pm: "100% Organic" tasting of wines from organic houses.

People registering for the 5 discovery workshops of old vintages, at the beginning of the season will pay only 4 sessions.

 

 

Τhe Solemn Chapters: the Chapters are exceptional theme evenings dedicated to the tasting of the best dishes made by great chefs, accompanied by the best wines from the oenothèque of the Confrérie Saint-Etienne. Chapters usually begin at 5 p.m. with inductions and end with a gala evening where evening attire is required.

  • Saturday, June 25, SOLEMN CHAPTER "The Art of Wine Service" by Chef Marc Haeberlin of the Restaurant l'Auberge de l'Ill, 2 Michelin stars in Illhaeusern, at the Château de la Confrérie Saint-Etienne. Public price: 180 €, 165 € member and group rate from 10 people and 150 € for children under 35 years old.
  • Saturday, September 24, SOLEMN CHAPTER "from Alsace to the International" by the chefs members of the Étoiles d'Alsace, at the Château de la Confrérie Saint-Etienne. Public price: 160 €, 145 € member and group rate from 10 people and 130 € for children under 35 years old.
  • Saturday, October 22, SOLEMN CHAPTER "Alsace gives an appointment to the taste buds of epicureans" by the chefs and members of the Prosper Montagné Gastronomic Club, at the Château de la Confrérie Saint-Etienne. Public price: 160 €, 145 € member and group rate from 10 people and 130 € for children under 35 years old.
  • Monday, November 21 SOLEMN CHAPTER "Alsace celebrates the International Sommellerie" by the chefs and members of the Association of Sommeliers of Alsace, at the Château de la Confrérie Saint-Etienne. Public price: 150 €, 135 € member and group rate from 10 people and 120 € for children under 35 years old.

Workshops "Mariez comme un chef mets et vins d'Alsace": discover the local product pairings presented by the chefs or their producers... accompanied by Alsace wines.

4 sessions, public price 50€ and 45€ for members.

  • Thursday, April 7 at 7pm, "Le Poisson" with Gilles Seiler from the Restaurant "Aux Trois Poissons" 
  • Thursday, May 19 at 7pm, "La Viande" with Christophe Cavelier from the Restaurant "du Mouton"
  • Thursday, October 6 at 7pm, "Les Fromages" with Jacky Quesnot from the "Fromagerie St-Nicolas"
  • Thursday, November 3 at 7pm, "Le Dessert" with Laurent Sanchez from the Bakery-Pastry "BiZkot"

As you will have understood, there will be heavy at the Confrérie Saint-Etienne in 2022.\
