A year of festivities is coming to Burgundy to celebrate the decade of the inscription of the Climats of the Côtes de Nuits and Beaune vineyards by UNESCO.
On 17 January, the Climats du Vignoble de Bourgogne association launched the programme of festivities for the year 2025 at the Château du Clos de Vougeot, marking a decade of inscription on the Unesco World Heritage List of the Climats of the Côtes de Nuits and Beaune vineyards, from Dijon to the Maranges south of Santenay, as a model of terroir viticulture. The inscription also concerns "the cultural and heritage elements embodying the thousand-year-old history of this wine production", says a press release.
Officially launched on July 4, 2015, these Climats will nevertheless be celebrated throughout 2025, worthy of one of the 53 properties that France has among the 1223 recognized in the world. "From January to December, more than 30 events will animate the villages, towns, vineyards and emblematic monuments of the region," continues a press release. Among the highlights, the festival of the month of the Climats will last 2 months to celebrate this special edition of the tenth anniversary. In December, an international symposium will close this year of festivities with conferences and field visits, in partnership with the Unesco Chair in Vine and Wine.
Bringing people together around the Climats
"This anniversary is an opportunity to return to the sources of our commitment. On July 4th, we wish to involve the entire population, age groups, urban, rural, winegrowers and all others, in the celebration and discovery of this heritage, of this word "Climate" which here means: a territory, a diversity of terroirs, but also a culture and a way of life, developed from this heritage. says Gilles de Larouzière, president of the Climats du Vignoble de Bourgogne association.
