STILL 10 DAYS TO REGISTER!

The 27th edition of the competition is scheduled for April 5 and 6, 2025.

There are therefore less than ten days left for wineries and cooperative cellars to present their best still and sparkling white wines to the competition. Samples are accepted for receipt in Strasbourg by the organizers until March 15.

The Mondial, always very attentive to trends, meets the expectations of consumers and restaurateurs who need benchmarks in an offer that diversifies year after year.

This is why partially dealcoholized and dealcoholized wines, now sufficiently well established in the landscape of wine merchants, specialized stores and restaurants, are invited to challenge each other for the first time during this 27th edition.

In 2024, the following 14 countries were rewarded with a medal or a dry wine trophy, or even a favorite of the jury: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Ukraine and USA.

It is an invitation to all the wine regions of the world which are the expression of the diversity of white wines to compete in Strasbourg.

As for France, in 2024, 9 wine regions were distinguished by their Silver, Gold and Grand Gold medals: Alsace, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Champagne, Centre-Val de Loire, Corsica, Occitanie terroirs of Languedoc and Roussillon, Provence- Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Savoie.

The importance of the competition for Greek wine

The Mondial des Vins Blancs Strasbourg is an excellent opportunity to promote Greek white wines on the international market. It gives Greek winemakers the opportunity to present the quality and variety of their wines on a global level, thus enhancing the recognition of the Greek wine industry. In addition, the distinctions that Greek wines can win can increase their demand in foreign markets and enhance the reputation of Greece as a country producing excellent wine.

DEADLINE FOR SAMPLES DELIVERY: March 15, 2025

FIRST SAMPLES from CHINA and the USA

There are unmissable events that are unanimous among professionals in the sector and the Mondial des Vins Blancs under the patronage of a the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine) and member of VINOFED (World Federation of Grands Concours of Wines and Spirits) is one of them. The wine estates know this and integrate it into their commercial strategy and this is tremendous recognition for the organizers of Strasbourg Events.

Winegrowers from around the world and the Southern hemisphere have already made their selection of white wines and the first samples from China and the USA have already been delivered to Strasbourg.

The organizers, Strasbourg events, are planning once again this year a wide representation of terroirs and white grape varieties from around the world and even the first participation for emerging countries eager for recognition from international experts who make up the jury of the contest.

CATEGORIES, AWARDS and TASTING COMMENTS with FOOD & WINE PAIRING

The competition is structured around 12 categories of white wines which are as follows:

  1.Chardonnay – 2. Chenin – 3. Gewurztraminer – 4. Muscat – 5. Pinot blanc – 6. Pinot Gris – 7.Riesling 8. Sauvignon – 9. Sylvaner - 10. Viognier - 11. White Blended – 12. Other white grape varieties

This year for the first time, the winners of the GRAND GOLD medals and the GRAND PRIX du JURY will leave not only with their rewards but also with a tasting commentary prepared by our panel of expert judges. Remember that the commentary dissects the visual aspect, the olfactory aspect and the impressions in the mouth including a return on the retro-olfaction and the length of the wine.

The commentary may be used freely by the award-winning winegrowers and will also include suggestions for food and wine pairings.

2 VINOFED PRIZES

Faced with the influx of candidate sparkling wines in 2024 and the persistent trend towards the consumption of drier wines, the Mondial jury will award 2 VINOFED AWARDS next April. That is to say, the best STILL dry wine and the best SPARKLING »BRUT » wine will be rewarded.

THE 3 FAVORITES

the favorite „first participation“

the favorite „orange wine“ (white wine with maceration)

the favorite wine made from an indigenous grape variety

In addition to the GRAND PRIX DU JURY awarded to the best wine in all categories, the 2 VINOFED PRIZES and the trophies DRY WINE in each of the 12 categories, the jury will decide on the award of « the 3 favorites ».

In a global context of wine consumption, white wine, whether or not it is associated with bubbles, seems to be the trendy color. As for indigenous grape varieties, the trend is rightly towards their promotion or even their rehabilitation in their own countries and the Mondial echoes these particularities that make up the identity and richness of the world's terroirs: initiated 2 years ago, the favorite for the best wine made from an indigenous grape variety is back!
