The World of Sparkling and Sweet Wines — Sunday, November 23, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

Aphros & Nektar” is a tasting event dedicated exclusively to two categories of Greek and international wines: sparkling and sweet. In other words, these are the categories of wines typically enjoyed before and after a fine meal — aperitif sparkling wines and dessert wines, respectively.

The event is being organized for the 5th consecutive year, on November 23, 2025, from 12:00–20:30 (divided into two time slots, 12:00–16:00 and 16:30–20:30, to reduce crowding and allow for more comfortable tastings). It will take place at the Lighthouse of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, with panoramic views of the sea and the entire city of Athens.

“Aphros & Nektar” is a unique meeting point for wine lovers to enjoy the enchanting bubbles of sparkling wines and the velvety warmth of sweet wines. Among sparkling wines, Champagne — the French sparkling wine produced exclusively in the Champagne region — has always held and continues to hold a special place, remaining the undisputed queen of wine bubbles. Nevertheless, it should be noted that Greek sparkling wines have been flourishing for years. As for sweet wines, Greece plays at a world-class level; these wines make up the majority of the “dessert wine” category, although fortified wines (which are not necessarily sweet) are also included in this group.

The purpose of “Aphros & Nektar” is twofold:

To taste Champagnes and other sparkling wines, as well as dessert wines (sweet and fortified), right before the season when their consumption peaks (the Christmas holidays), so attendees can select the labels they wish to enjoy.
To introduce wine lovers to enjoying sparkling and dessert wines year-round — with or without food, before or after a meal — in any situation, not only for special occasions or with specific pairings.

In a special room, sparkling and sweet wines recently distinguished in the international competition Concours Mondial de Bruxelles will be presented. These wines are not available in the Greek market, and many are rare.

The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is one of the leading and largest wine competitions in the world. In Greece, the competition is represented by Vinetum, the organizer of this event.
