For the second year in a row, the Chablis Wine Competition took place in a special context due to the health crisis. However, the event was organized thanks to a strict protocol ensuring the safety of the tasters.
It took place on January 15, 2022 in Beine, under the presidency of a burgundy wine enthusiast, Guillaume Baroin, journalist, oenophile and gastronome.
Special feature of this competition: professionals presenting samples cannot become members of the jury. The tasters are journalists, restaurateurs, sommeliers, brokers, oenologists, winemakers or enlightened amateurs. They judge the wines in two stages: the samples that obtained the best marks in the first stage with all the tasters then pass the Test of the Super Jury, the only one authorized to award the medals.
The 44 members of the jury tasted this year the 2020 vintage for the Petit Chablis, Chablis and Chablis Premier Cru appellations, and the 2019 vintage for the AOC Chablis Grand Cru. They awarded 29 medals out of the 262 samples presented.
These laureates will become for one year the ambassadors of Chablis wines during the operations carried out in France or abroad by the Bureau Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bourgogne.

Initially a salesman for cork stoppers, Guillaume Baroin began his career as a wine journalist in 1998 for Magnum Vinum, before working as a regional correspondent in 2001 for Cuisine & Vins de France. In 2007 he began his collaboration with the Revue du Vin de France, which he joined in 2013. He also participated for two years in the Guide des Meilleurs vins de France before leaving the magazine at the end of 2019.
At the same time, he has been the author of the Hachette Wine Guide since the 2010 edition, and continues his collaboration as a freelancer for national and regional newspapers.
He was also a technical advisor on films around wine such as "Premiers Crus" (2015) or "Intractable" (2021).
In 2020 he launches, with a photographer and videographer friend, his own online magazine on the wines of Burgundy, Beaujolais and Jura: www.lesbuvologues.com "the site of the wines we drink and the plates we sauce".
