Registrations are open for the 31^ edition of the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes, the only wine competition in the world specifically dedicated to wines resulting from extreme viticulture. The competition aims to promote and safeguard the production of small island or mountain wine-growing areas, steeply sloping or terraced, where mainly native vines are cultivated. Special tasting commissions, each composed of 3 oenologists or oenologists and 2 expert tasters, will meet in Valle d'Aosta for the evaluation of the wines in competition on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 September 2023.
Interested producers can register their wines by Tuesday 5 September 2023 on the www.mondialvinsextremes.com/concorso/iscrizione website.

The peculiarity of the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes is mainly due to the variety of references for tasting, obtained mostly from native vines, characterized by terroirs that give the wine precise organoleptic characteristics and that make this competition unique in the world wine scene. In the last edition the participating wines were more than 800, coming from 24 countries, including non-European Armenia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, State of Palestine and USA.

"We believe that participating in the Mondial des Vins Extrêmes represents an extraordinary opportunity for high mountain winemakers or overlooking the sea, who face demanding challenges every day in the cultivation of their vineyards, in geographical areas characterized by high altitudes, unpredictable climatic conditions and rough terrain – says Stefano Celi, President of CERVIM – Centre for Research, Studies, Safeguarding, Coordination and Enhancement for Mountain Viticulture –. The high number of adhesions, growing year by year, confirms the prestige of this authoritative recognition, which offers producers visibility on a global scale and the opportunity to share their stories with enthusiasts from all over the world".

The Mondial des Vins Extrêmes is organized annually by CERVIM – Center for Research, Studies, Safeguarding, Coordination and Enhancement for Mountain Viticulture, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta and AIS Italian Sommelier Association – Valle d'Aosta Section. It is sponsored by the OIV – Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin and authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry. It is also part of VINOFED, the federation that brings together the great international wine competitions.
