The Domaine des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges has just harvested the last grapes of its 2023 vintage under glorious sunshine. Both quality and quantity are on the agenda this year, with a volume almost as large as last year's, and grapes of superb quality and perfect ripeness. A gratifying harvest that holds great promise for the 2023 vintage.

If the end of the vegetative cycle took place in excellent conditions, this year was, once again, full of twists and turns, and the Domaine is delighted with its happy ending.
In mid-June, the vineyards of the Domaine des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges finished flowering in excellent conditions. After the cool months of April and May, the vines had caught up with their development and were doing wonderfully well, in perfect sanitary conditions. But in contrast to the peaceful summer of 2022, the 2023 season was not a long quiet river: a cool, wet July, and a heatwave inAugust, it was almost a miracle of nature that we were able to obtain such a healthy harvest, valida-ting the technical choices made by Domaine des Hospices de Nuits throughout the evolution of the vines. The bunches of grapes arrived concentrated, rich in juice and well-balanced. As a result, harvesting began on September 13, as planned by Domaine manager Jean-Marc Moron.
Although there were some differences in ripeness from one area to another, with a few sun-roasted grapes requiring meticulous sorting in the vines and on the table, this was gladly carried out in view of the superb grapes entering the vats in good quanti-ties.
As the harvest draws to a close, the first juices reveal excellent balance, just the right sugar concentration, silky tannins and superb ripeness, auguring a magnificent vintage to come.

Jean-Marc Moron, winemaker of the Domaine des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges:
"Another year to delight Burgundy winemakers! Everything in the vats is magnificent. The grapes are healthy, beautiful and very ripe, with magnificent balance and sugar concentration. On first tastings, the colors are very beautiful, very deep. The juices are highly aromatic, offering a relatively broad palette between fresh red fruit and riper black fruit. The tannins are very silky. It's a very promising vintage, combining quality and quantity!"
